Read below for the description of the first croquis project. I will be grading you based upon your drawing skill and concept.

Outfit Based Upon a Fairytale Princess:
Everyone has a favorite fairytale. The reason that we are starting with this project is because all of Fashion is STORYTELLING. You are telling a story about the woman you are designing for and what her fashion dictates. Also, the choice of your fairytale character also tells us something about you: what you like, what you cherish, and what sorts of fashion suit you.

Steps:
  • Brainstorm: how does your design shape up? Is it too much like the actual outfit? Do you need to even have it based upon the outfit? Think about the character and her story. Are there other elements that you can add? Make it UNIQUE.
  • Pose your mannikan
  • Draw your outfit (front and back)
  • Color with colored pencil
  • Cut out the drawings
  • Mount on black paper
  • Trace and use the "inspired by label"

Grading:

  • Work Habits
  • Visual Design
  • Technical Quality (inc drawing skills)
  • Creativity (Inventiveness)
  • Craftsmanship
