Blizzard Bag Assignment: Selfie Portrait

The blizzard bag assignments are meant to replace the work of TWO snow days. You must complete the assignment below by JUNE 1st and turn into the Google Drive hand in folder titled "Blizzard Bags Assignment". The assignment should take you about 90 minutes to complete from start to finish. If you do not complete the assignment, you will be marked two days absent. If you have any questions during the assignment, please see me in class or email me. Seniors are exempt from the blizzard bag assignment because they are not restricted to the 180 day school year from the DESE.

Objectives

• Study color theory and apply a color scheme to your portrait
  
• Analyze the power of text and utilize a hashtag in your portrait
• Study Adobe Illustrator, thinking about the ways that it is similar to Photoshop
  
• Study vectors and how they relate to web design and digital art in general
  

Assignment
Your assignment is to create a vector selfie with hashtag based upon color theory and also utilizing the themes of pop art. You will use the app Inkpad, which works very much like the pen tool in Illustrator. 

Steps

1. Download Inkpad (free) on your iPad.
2. Take a selfie with your iPad! Embellish it with accessories or other fun things.
3. Upload your selfie to the app in the gallery. Click on it.
4. Using the pen tool with your finger, draw shapes and...
5. Create a vector selfie using a color scheme.
6. Add a background color or pattern.
7. Hashtag an inspirational quote or word that defines you. Be sure the hashtag is large and fills the page. Choose a typeface that suits your personality.
8. Save the file to your camera roll.
9. Upload to Google Drive into the folder: Blizzard Bag assignment

Things to Consider:

• When taking photographs, natural light is always best (ie don't take it in a closet).
• Make the image look like a selfie!
