Steps
  1. Research the Strandbeest.
  2. Gather images of the Strandbeest from its origins until today.
  3. Using Adobe Slate, write an imaginative story about how the Strandbeest has evolved.
  4. End the story with a digital "drawing" of what a future Strandbeest may look like. You will use the app Adobe Photoshop Mix to create this. Back up your visual idea with evidence.

Your story must contain the following criteria:

  • At least 5 images of current Strandbeest (s)
  • Text describing how the Strandbeest has evolved. Make sure to speak about the features that have allowed the Strandbeest to survive (ex: the wind stomach)
  • 1 photo manipulation (using the app Adobe Photoshop Mix) of what you think the Strandbeest will look like in the future (millions of years). Describe the evidence your proposed visual evolution of the Strandbeest.
Background
The Strandbeest is a giant lumbering species created and designed by Dutch Artist Theo Jansen. He equates his creations to living beings that will survive beyond his own life. Jansen sees himself almost like an almighty creator.

Read about these Strandbeests and then watch a video about evolution.

Assignment Description
