Glitches from Photo 1

A glitch is a momentary fault in a system. I recently learned how to glitch photographs in an art conference at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The Teacher Institute of Contemporary Art helps teachers to brush up on the newest technologies in art. Glitching is fun and easy. To glitch, all you have to do is the following:
  • Duplicate your photo (because you WILL mess it up!)
  • Change the file extension to .txt
  • Open up the .txt file in text edit
  • Change it up! Add text, copy, paste, go wild!
  • Change the file extension back to .jpeg
  • Open the file and see your masterpiece

Take a gander at the glitches by students in my photo 1 class. Below the photos is a fun youtube video where a glitch in a video game system terrorizes the characters. If you ever played video games, it's a great video!
