Description: Your task is to create a cardboard portrait of yourself using Photoshop, cardboard, a pencil, and an x-acto blade. The figure is an important aspect in graphic design, contrary to popular belief. The self portrait has a place in art history in that artists have consistently depicted themselves in some manner throughout decades of art history.
Paint your cardboard WHITE
Take a high resolution photo of yourself (don't take it from Facebook or Instagram)
In Photoshop, do the following: -Open the photo -Change the color to black and white -Bring up the brightness & contrast -Change the levels -Repeat brightness/contrast & levels -Posterize the image (I used 5 levels) if need be -Reverse the image -Save as a jpeg
Print to the 220 printer
Using a pencil, trace over your lines
Transfer the drawing to your cardboard
Cut enough so that you can peel away the surface of the cardboard to reveal the corrugated part of it. You are cutting out the black (positive space).
Usage of the following elements/principles: Contrast, unity, scale and proportion
