Magazine Spreads and InDesign

Background
Magazines are still kickin' around, even with newspaper companies folding. You see people reading magazines on the subway, at the airport, and at their own home. Magazine companies have begun to move towards the digital format -- being able to be read on tablets like the iPad. Regardless of the format, magazine design is an important part of graphic design.

Assignment
Your assignment is to create a Magazine cover and 2 page spread using photographs from your group's photoshoot.

• Hierarchy of images and shapes
• Layout
• Text wrapping
• Design

The image above and below were taken by Design Army for the Washington Ballet. These images were used for a book but could very easily be put in a magazine.

Take a look at the THEME of this shoot. The costumes really make it, but the graphic design is done very well.
