WEB DESIGN MIDYEAR:

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23RD
3RD PERIOD: 9:15-10:45
4TH PERIOD 10:55-12:25

50% Project
Background
Styles change and websites must change and evolve with current Internet trends. Most websites update or redesign every 5 years.

Assignment
Your assignment is to redesign a website. You must choose a poorly designed site and make it pop into something more interesting. You will create a wireframe before you begin. The wireframe must be done on the computer. You may either use Photoshop or Illustrator to design the site but the size MUST be 1024 x 768 at 300 ppi. Be sure to take a screenshot of the site so we can see both sites compared to one another. Be sure to PRINT OUT THE FOLLOWING:
  • Redesigned Site (Print at school)
  • Original Site
  • Wireframe
  • Color Scheme screenshot (from colorschemedesigner.com)

Thinks to Think About:
  • What makes the current website "bad?" How can you change those things to enhance the site?
  • Should the color scheme change?
  • What works well? Should you keep those elements?
  • Does the logo need a redesign?

What Makes a Good Site? (How you will be graded)
  • Grid Layout
  • Padding throughout the page or site
  • Text (Copy text should be no larger than 12)
  • Good logo
  • Consistent Color Scheme
  • Ease of use
  • Global Navigation
  • Usage of Depth to create a 3-dimensional look
  • Utilizing the Elements of Art & Principles of Design
